Earl Lewis, "Mr. excitement", and his fabulous
Channels, take us all the way back and make it happen again. It was not only
their songs that made them famous, but the desire of every kid on every street
corner to sing those songs and sound just like them.
It all started back in June of 1956. The Group's career took off after
having performed at the world's famous Apollo Theater in Harlem,
where their first record, "The Closer You Are", ignited a series of
hits that made them one of the truly unique sounding groups ever to come out of
the 50's. Then came "The Gleam In Your Eyes", "Bye, Bye,
Baby,""My Love For You Will Never Die," and "That's My
Desire," just to name a few.
With Earl's incredible falsetto lead voice, He single-handedly opened the
airwaves to a brilliant new sound and, for a male lead, a new way of turning on
an audience. The group's redition of "Gloria" and "Shout"
has become such favorites that they are a must at every show. Their stlye and
dancing steps always bring clamor from the audience.
Earl Lewis and The Channels, refered to as "New York's Finest" are making
apperances on all major oldie shows, private clubs, and specialty affairs. They
have become one of the more popular groups in the oldies circuit.
